This work is based on a photograph of the subject with her family. The subject had related feelings of disappointment and frustration that her family did not support her or were as affectionate as she wished them to be when she was a child. The subject understood this lack and this non-conformity to the “nuclear family” as relating to her parent’s own very different struggles entering this country as immigrants.
